Citizenship of Antigua & Barbuda

Antigua & Barbuda is an independent commonwealth state in the Eastern Caribbean. Located in the Leeward Islands, the English speaking two-island state of Antigua & Barbuda is a favoured tourist destination dubbed the ‘Land of 365 Beaches’.

Antigua’s commitment to serving its tourism industry and increasing the GDP is demonstrated with its airport expansion project, allowing an increase in scheduled, charter and inter-island flights. There are already direct flights to Antigua from several parts of the world.

  • Constitutional monarchy with a British style parliamentary system. Having gained independence from Britain in 1981, Antigua & Barbuda has developed a reputation for judicial and governmental stability.
  • Member of the United Nations (UN), the British Commonwealth, Caricom and the Organisation of American States (OAS), among many other international organisations.
  • Key industries are tourism, tourism related service industries, and financial services.
  • Its currency is the Eastern Caribbean dollar (ECD).
  • The island enjoys a pleasant year-round climate, with average air temperatures ranging between 25 and 28 celsius and sea temperatures reaching 29 celsius.

Citizenship-by-Investment Programme- Requirements

Applicants must fulfil one of the following three criteria:-

  • Donation– Donate at least US$100,000 to the National Development Fund or an approved charity.
  • Real estate– Invest at least US$400,000 into an approved real estate project, to be held for a minimum of 5 years.
  • Business– Invest US$1.5 million or more into an eligible local business.


Applicants must

  • Be of outstanding character,
  • Hold no criminal record; and
  • Have excellent health.


Applications are normally processed within 90 days of submission. Successful applicants must be present in Antigua & Barbuda for at least five days within the first five years of obtaining citizenship.
