A global talent visa gives leaders in specific fields to work in the UK. The fields recognised under this visa are academia or research, arts and culture and digital technology.
The main requirements to be met are as follows:
- The applicant must be at least 18 years old.
- The applicant must prove that they are a leader or will be a leader in one of the recognised fields – academia or research, arts and culture and digital technology. This can be proven by applying for an endorsement from a recognised endorsing body.
- Exception – the only time you can apply for this visa without an endorsement is if you have won an award which is eligible under this visa.
Once an individual obtains their global talent visa, they will be permitted to remain in the UK for up to 5 years, allowing them to work in the field that they applied under.

You can live and work in the UK for up to 5 years at a time. There is no limit on how long you can stay in the UK provided you renew you visa each before it expires.
The Global Talent visa route permits you to bring your spouse, unmarried partner and children to live with you.
Depending on the field applied for, an individual is permitted to extend their visa for any length of time between 3 to 5 years. After successful completion of their stay of 3 or 5 years, they can thereafter apply for settlement in the UK.
