Zambia
Zambia offers several types of visas depending on the duration and purpose of the visit. Here is a summary of the primary visa categories:
Business visitors to Zambia are entitled to a complimentary 30-day stay within any 12-month period from the date of first entry. It's important to note that the 30 days may not be granted all at once; therefore, extensions might be required.
Should the business activities necessitate a longer stay, visitors can extend their visa at the nearest Immigration Office without additional charges. This flexibility helps accommodate the varying durations of business projects and engagements.
This permit is designed for business visitors who plan to stay longer than 30 days but not more than six months within a year. It is ideal for professionals engaged in specific projects that require a longer commitment in Zambia.
An employment permit is granted to foreigners who intend to work in Zambia for more than six months. This permit can be extended repeatedly, up to a total of 10 years. Eligible applicants for this permit include
- Individuals employed by the Zambian Government or a statutory body;
- Those working in the private sector, Non-Governmental Organizations (including volunteers), or religious organizations;
- Spouses and children over twenty-one years old of a foreigner, provided they are engaged in the family business.
There may be various ways in which citizenship can be obtained depending on the circumstances. Please reach out to Hudson McKenzie for an assessment to determine the best route.
