Recent regulatory updates in Cyprus have introduced stricter obligations for employers hiring foreign nationals. Employers are now required to update key employment information including job role, working hours, salary, and leave entitlements, on the national online platform at least one day prior to the employee commencing work. Failure to comply with this requirement may result in administrative penalties.
In addition, penalties for employing undeclared foreign workers have increased. A fine of €1,000 now applies per undeclared worker, with a further €500 for each month of prior noncompliance. Higher fines apply in cases of repeated violations, rising to €2,000 for a second offence and €3,000 for subsequent breaches.
Employers should review their internal processes and ensure they are aligned with the updated requirements to minimise risk and ensure ongoing compliance.
