Domestic Worker Visas
A Domestic Worker Visa allows overseas employers to bring their domestic workers with them when they visit the UK for up to 6 months.
A domestic worker may include a cleaner, chauffeur, gardener, cook, carer in a private household for the employer or a member of the employer’s family, and nannies. They must work in their employer’s household in the UK.
They will be given permission to stay in the UK for up to 6 months. They must return home at the end of the 6 months or when their employer returns home, whichever is sooner. It is currently not possible to extend permission to stay past 6 months or past the time that their employer is in the UK.
As part of the new regulations, they are not allowed to change employer while they are in the UK or change to a different type of employment.
