UKVI Service update
As of 1st December 2020, UK Visas, and Immigration (UKVI) are implementing changes to the services it provides to visa applicants and customers. These changes have been introduced to simplify processes and carry out its procedures more easily and efficiently.
The changes that are going to be carried out from December onwards are the following:
- The UKVI contact centre number for visa applicants
This applies to all individuals applying for visas from within the UK and overseas. There will now be a single number, versus the 12 that currently exist, for them to use to contact UKVI: 0300 790 6268.
The UKVI contact numbers have not changed and will continue to stay the same for those who are either employer or education sponsors and asylum applicants. Equally, services provided, charges and opening and closing times will also stay the same.
- Charges for overseas customers wishing to contact UKVI
The UK government has the belief that those outside of the UK wishing to take advantage of the UK’s new immigration system and have their questions answered meet the government halfway by satisfying a cost. Applicants applying from outside the UK can contact UKVI by phone or email. Emails cost £2.74 each, including the enquiry and all the follow up responses in relation to the enquiry made. Phone calls are chargeable by the hour at 69 pence per minute. The payment method for these charges is via debit or credit card.
Services provided will be available in English from within the UK. From abroad, individuals can access the UKVI service in English and seven other different languages, including Arabic, Cantonese, French, Hindi, Mandarin, Russian and Spanish. To access both services, there will be only one telephone number to use.
For opening and closing times of the services provided by UKVI, these can be found on the UK government’s website, https://gov.uk
Should individuals reach the wrong team for their enquiry, they will be pushed back into the phone messaging system and be redirected automatically.
