Hungary relaunches the Golden visa

As of 15th January 2025, Hungary officially ended the EUR 500,000 real estate investment option for its golden visa program, known as the ‘Guest Investor Residence’ permit. This visa, which was initially a key option for investors seeking residency, has been stopped.

However, the other two investment pathways remain available. Applicants can still qualify by either investing EUR 250,000 in a designated investment fund for at least five years or making a EUR 1 million non-refundable donation to a Hungarian higher education institution, aimed at supporting scientific research or artistic projects.

The program, which grants work and residence rights for 10 years along with access to the Schengen Area, was relaunched in March 2024. Despite the change in real estate investment eligibility, Hungary continues to offer these opportunities to boost foreign investment in the country.
