United States: H-1B petitions for skilled foreign workers now accepted

The United States Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS) recently announced that the US will start accepting H-1B petitions from cap-subject employers for skilled foreign workers.

This is important because the USCI may only approve 65,000 new H-1B petitions per fiscal year, as a cap, with an additional 20,000 available each fiscal year for individuals with advanced degrees from US institutions.

If enough petitions are received by the USCI then petitions are no longer accepted – in which a lottery system is put in place so as for cases to be chosen for processing.
