Roll out of the new EU vaccine passport
The EU has officially issued a Covid vaccine passport which is being rolled out across all 27 member states of the EU. Those with a vaccine passport will be fully vaccinated and will be able to travel throughout Europe. The passport was officially introduced on 1st July 2021 and will be phased-in over a 6-week period.
The certificates are issued to those who have had a vaccination against Covid, recently had a negative Covid PCR test or recently recovered from Covid. The “passport” includes a QR code and a digital signature and can be displayed on a digital device or printed out. Anyone with the vaccine certificate should not have to quarantine or be tested when crossing an international border. The vaccine passport holds the individual’s information and is not stored or retained when it is checked at an airport for instance.
