Last Call for Tier 1 (General) migrants who want to apply for ILR

February 27, 2018 | Immigration, Latest Thinking, News

If you are on a Tier 1 (General) visa, you may want to check when you qualify for Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) in the UK, as the last day to apply will be 5th April 2018.

The Tier 1 (General) Category, replaced the Highly Skilled Migrant Program (HSMP) designed for skilled persons wanting to come to the UK without requiring a sponsor to employ them. This category was closed in 2011 and fresh applications could not be submitted, it remained open until 2015 to allow extensions for existing Tier 1 (General) migrants.

The entire category will come to an end as of 5th April 2018, this will be the last day for those on a Tier 1 (General) to apply for ILR, we therefore strongly advise migrants to check if they are eligible to apply, if not, they may want to consider switching to another immigration category until they do qualify for ILR.
