Global Immigration Update – Hong Kong

Hong Kong: Foreign nationals are now permitted to attend events when visiting.

Foreign nationals visiting Hong Kong now no longer need to obtain a separate employment permit when wanting to attend events in Hong Kong, so to provide speeches and presentations.

However, the necessary conditions for not obtaining a separate employment permit are as follows:

  • The event duration must not exceed seven days
  • The visitor can only be reimbursed for accommodation, travel, food etc. and not remunerated for speaking or presenting at the event.
  • The visitor can only attend one event during each permitted period of stay.
