Further extension for right to work checks

June 25, 2021 | Employment, News, UK Government

In a previous post, we explained that the UK government had announced that as of 21st June 2021, right to work checks can no longer be made by checking digital documents or scanned copies of documents online.

However, since the UK government has delayed the Covid easing of restrictions, the Covid adjusted temporary right to work checks have been extended to 31 August 2021.

Current right to work checks:

  • Checks can be carried out over video
  • Scanned or photos of documents can be sent electronically
  • Employers can use the government checking service

From 1 September 2021, employers must check original documents.
