Latest EU Settlement Scheme Update
EU Citizens and their dependents within the UK have been provided with further information regarding the EU Settlement Scheme.
The information provided by the Secretary of State for Exiting the European Union provided the information upon the basis that Brexit occurs without a deal in place.
This is because the UK government has announced that if the UK leaves the EU without a deal in place, then charges are likely to occur to the EU Settlement Scheme, which will impact EU Citizens and their dependents in the UK simultaneously.
The latest information provided by the UK Government is as follows:
- The EU Settlement Scheme shall be implemented regardless if there is a deal or not when the UK leaves the EU.
- The Home Office will continue to ensure the ‘granting’ of status rather than refusing those under the EU Settlement Scheme as much as possible.
- The EU Settlement Scheme will be fully open by 30th March 2019.
