Brexit – Brussels Negotiations
Brexit negotiations are in full swing in Brussels, we bring you the latest updates on how the negotiations are proceeding.
The UK and the EU have agreed to protect the rights to reciprocal healthcare, this will include European Health Insurance Cards (EHIC), for EU citizens in the UK and UK nationals in the EU, providing they are present in the country on the day UK exits the EU.
They will also have their rights protected as agreed by the UK and EU.
EU nationals in the UK, and vice versa, will still have the right to set up and manage a business. This includes several areas where the UK wants to go further than the EU, such as posted workers (raised in the July round) and the mutual recognition of professional qualifications. The UK will also continue to seek clarification on how the EU’s stance on various issues would work in practice and be implemented within the EU27.
David Davis stated last week, “the UK government remains absolutely committed during the negotiation process to delivering the best outcome for the people of the EU and the UK.”
As the negotiations between the UK and the EU take shape, we will continue to post latest updates.
