Firm’s Associate Tanya Preston spends a day at Hackney Community Transport Hub as part of commitment to CSR
As part of Hudson McKenzie’s commitment to corporate social responsibility and community at large, on Friday 4th September one of our associates Tanya Preston spent the day with a fantastic team carrying out remedial works at the Hackney Community Transport Hub (HCT) arranged by East London Community Alliance.
The HCT’s drivers work long hours transporting local residents to and from their daily appointments, including taking the elderly to hospital appointments, assisting disabled people with daily tasks such as shopping or taking children to and from school. Without the hard work of the HCT drivers many people in the local community would not be able to carry out their daily routines and so the team were set the challenge of making their break out space more welcoming and their outdoor space more appealing. Tanya was with the outdoor team and was presented with a “garden” of weeds, litter, buried shoes and old metal. The team spent the day pulling up the weeds, removing all the rubbish, turning over all the soil, removing all the bricks, planting new plants and finally laying down wood chip.
As Tanya stated- “It involved a lot of digging, carrying and weeding but quite simply, it was a fantastic day and great to work alongside a mixed bunch of people who turned up just to help this great community spirited company. I look forward to visiting again soon to check on the plants”.
Well done Tanya, keep up the good work!
